Planet Common Ground Athens

You Can Make News

Use feeds to broadcast your organization's news

On a regular website, the only way to share your story is to get people to visit it. At Common Ground, we post links to our affiliates, but how will readers know you have new content on your site? RSS feeds allow other services—someone's personal feed reader or websites such as Planet Common Ground—to republish new content and bring people to your site.

The first step is to create a feed. Many content management systems, such as Joomla! or Drupal, automatically generate a feed. Alternatively, you can post a blog or start bookmarking through del.icio.us or Digg.

For example, the LeConte Group of the Sierra Club has two feeds: one of news from the group itself here and one of environmental news from around the web, as items tagged in Google Reader here.

Once you have a feed of your content, return to Planet Common Ground and add your feed to our list.

Share your favorite sites

Do you fill up your inbox with reminders of websites that you want to remember? Have you ever thought something might be interesting to others in Athens' progressive community? del.icio.us offers a way to store and share bookmarks of interesting sites. Simply create an account and start bookmarking.

Planet is automatically subscribed to a feed of all bookmarks tagged planetcg, so all you need to do is add that tag, among others, when you bookmark a site.
